The economy is expected to have added 45,000 jobs in August, following an unexpected loss of 23,000 jobs in July. The unemployment rate is forecast to edge up to 4.2% from 4.1%, while average hourly earnings growth is expected to accelerate to 0.2% month over month from 0.1%. Earlier in the week, the ISM manufacturing and services PMIs are expected to point to another month of expansion. Investors will also assess the JOLTS report, with job openings forecast to rise to 7.39 million in July from 7.36 million in June. Other releases on the US calendar include the ADP employment report, July trade balance, factory orders and the Dallas Fed Manufacturing Index. The Federal Reserve's Beige Book, along with speeches from several Fed officials, including Governors Michael Barr and Christopher Waller, will be closely scrutinized for further clues on the outlook for US interest rates. Elsewhere in America, the Bank of Canada is widely expected to leave its policy rate unchanged at 2.25% when it meets on Wednesday. Canada will also release employment, trade and Ivey PMI data, alongside the S&P Global PMI surveys. In Mexico, investors will receive consumer and business sentiment data, while Brazil will publish second-quarter GDP, industrial production, trade balance and S&P Global PMI figures.

Flash inflation data will be the main focus in Europe next week, with Eurozone annual inflation expected to accelerate to 3.2% in August, matching the May reading and reaching its highest level since September 2023. German inflation is also forecast to edge up to 2.9%, while price growth in Italy is expected to accelerate further. These figures follow higher-than-expected readings from Spain and France, adding to concerns about renewed inflationary pressures. Key inflation releases are also due from Switzerland and Turkey. On the growth side, updated manufacturing and services PMI figures for Spain, Italy and Switzerland will provide further insight into economic momentum, following strong manufacturing readings and more moderate services growth across the region. Germany's factory orders are expected to show no growth in July after two consecutive monthly increases. Eurozone unemployment is forecast to remain at 6.3% for a fifth month, while Italy's rate is expected to rise to 5.8%. Other releases include retail sales, UK mortgage data and house prices, Spain's labour-market figures, and GDP, and trade data from Turkey and Switzerland.

In China, investors will focus next week on official and private manufacturing and services PMI reports for August to assess the health of the world's second-largest economy. In Japan, a broad range of economic reports are due, including the latest industrial production, retail sales, consumer confidence, housing starts and household spending data. In India, GDP data is expected to show economic growth slowed to 7.1% in Q2 from 7.8% in Q1. Other key releases include Q2 current account data and final PMI reports for August. In Australia, attention will center on Q2 GDP figures, along with the latest trade, building permits, current account, commodity prices and industrial activity data. Elsewhere in the region, trade figures are due from South Korea, Indonesia and Vietnam, while inflation data are expected from South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Manufacturing PMI reports are also scheduled for Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam. Finally, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand is expected to raise its cash rate by 25 basis points to 2.75%, while Bank Negara Malaysia is likely to keep its policy rate unchanged at 2.75%.
