Uruguay Manufacturing Output Falls 5.5% YoY in March
Manufacturing production in Uruguay declined 5.5 percent year-on-year in March 2019, following a 2.5 percent fall in the previous month. Main negative contributions came basic metals (-29.8 percent), vehicles (-27.2 percent), oil & coal products (-19.9 percent), and paper (-4.8 percent). In contrast, the biggest positive contribution came from machinery (8.5 percent), and food & beverages (2.3 percent). Excluding oil refinery, namely La Teja refinery, the country's only oil producer, manufacturing activity went down 2.4 percent.

Uruguay Manufacturing Output Dips 2.5% YoY in February
Manufacturing production in Uruguay declined 2.5 percent year-on-year in February 2019 compared to a 1.3 percent gain in the previous month. Main negative contributions came from chemicals & chemical products (-6.8 percent); oil & coal products (-4.5 percent) and food & beverages (-1.9 percent). In contrast, the biggest positive contribution came from basic metals (35.9 percent). Excluding oil refinery, namely La Teja refinery, the country's only oil producer, manufacturing activity went down 2.1 percent. Considering the first two months of 2019, manufacturing production decreased 0.6 percent over a year ago.

Uruguay Manufacturing Output Rebounds in January
Manufacturing production in Uruguay rose 1.3 percent year-on-year in January 2019, rebounding from a 8.8 percent fall in the previous month. Main positive contributions came from oil & coal products (+11.4 percent); food & beverages (1.9 percent) and edition & printing activities (15.2 percent). Meanwhile, the biggest downward contribution came from chemical products (-9.6 percent). Excluding oil refinery, namely La Teja refinery, the country's only oil producer, manufacturing activity shrank 1.0 percent.

Uruguay Manufacturing Output Falls the Most in 14 Months
Manufacturing production in Uruguay decreased 8.8 percent year-on-year in December 2018, following a 1.7 percent gain in the previous month. It was the biggest decline in factory activity since October 2017, when it dropped 13.8 percent. Main negative contributions came from food and beverages (-7.8 percent), chemical products (-16.7 percent) and basic metals (-61.3 percent). Meanwhile, the biggest upward contribution came from production of paper (1.2 percent). Excluding oil refinery, namely La Teja refinery, the country's only oil producer, manufacturing activity 9.6 percent.
