Cape Verde November Inflation Rate Steady at 0.7%
The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde remained unchanged for the third consecutive month at 0.7 percent in November 2019, its lowest level since February. Prices slowed for restaurants & hotels (8.2 percent vs 8.9 percent in October); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.7 percent vs 7.1 percent); recreation & culture (0.5 percent vs 1.5 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (2.1 percent vs 2.6 percent). In addition, cost fell for housing & utilities (-2.5 percent vs -2.8 percent); transport (-2 percent vs -1.9 percent) and communication (-0.3 percent, after being unchanged). Meanwhile, prices rose faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2 percent vs 1.9 percent); clothing & footwear (4.3 percent vs 4.1 percent) and health (3.1 percent vs 2.6 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat, after increasing 0.4 percent in the previous month.

Cape Verde Inflation Rate at 7-Month Low of 0.7%
The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde declined to 0.7 percent in September 2019, its lowest level since February, from 1.5 percent in the previous month. Prices advanced at a softer pace mainly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.5 percent vs 2.5 percent in August): restaurants & hotels (7.0 percent vs 7.6 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.0 percent vs 6.4 percent). In addition, cost fell for housing & utilities (-2.2 percent vs 0.6 percent) and transport (-2.0 percent vs -1.7 percent). Conversely, cost increased further for clothing & footwear (3.7 percent vs 1.0 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3.1 percent vs 2.3 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.9 percent vs 6.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.7 percent, after increasing 0.1 percent in the previous month.

Cape Verde August Inflation Rate Rises to 1.5%
The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde rose to 1.5 percent in August 2019 from 1.1 percent in the previous month. Prices went up further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.5 percent vs 2.2 percent in July); clothing & footwear (1 percent vs 0.4 percent); and miscellaneous goods & services (2.3 percent vs 2.1 percent). Also, cost fell less for transport (-1.7 percent vs -3.7 percent); and furnishings & household equipment (-0.1 percent vs -0.5 percent). Meanwhile, prices slowed for housing & utilities (0.6 percent vs 0.8 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.4 percent vs 8 percent). Additionally, inflation was steady for hotels, cafes & restaurants (at 7.6 percent) and health (at 2.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.1 percent, rebounding from a 0.1 percent decline in the prior month.

Cape Verde Inflation Rate at 3-Month Low of 1.1%
The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde decreased to 1.1 percent in July 2019 from 1.5 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since April, mainly due to prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.2 percent vs 2.5 percent in June); housing & utilities (0.8 percent vs 1.1 percent) and transport (-3.7 percent vs -1.4 percent). Meanwhile, inflation quickened for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (8 percent vs 7.1 percent) and hotels, cafes & restaurants (7.6 percent vs 6.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.1 percent, following a 0.6 percent rise in the previous month.

The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde was at 1.5 percent in June 2019, unchanged from the previous month. Price rose further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.5 percent vs 1.2 percent in May); miscellaneous goods & services (2 percent vs 0.6 percent); furnishings (0.6 percent vs 0.5 percent); restaurants & hotels (6.9 percent vs 5.9 percent); recreation & culture (2 percent vs 1.1 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (7.1 percent vs 5.1 percent). Meanwhile, cost eased for housing & utilities (1.1 percent vs 2.3 percent); and health (1.8 percent vs 2.4 percent). Also, prices fell for transport (-1.4 percent vs 0.9 percent) and clothing & footwear (-0.8 percent vs 0.9 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.6 percent, after a 0.5 percent gain in the prior month.

Cape Verde Inflation Rate at 6-Month High of 1.5%
The annual inflation rate in Cape Verde rose to 1.5 percent in May 2019 from 1.1 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since last November, as prices rebounded for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.2% vs -0.6% in April); clothing & footwear (0.9% vs -1.4%) and furnishings (0.5% vs -0.2%). Additional upward pressure came mostly from restaurants & hotels (5.9% vs 5.3%); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5.1% vs 3.6%) and health (2.4% vs 1.1%). In contrast, cost slowed for transport (0.9% vs 5%) and housing & utilities (2.3% vs 2.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.5 percent, after increasing 0.1 percent in the previous month.
